She was given an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program which she completed from the program in 2000, earning a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. In the last 20 years, her roles in the world of television and on the screen have been varied. The role of Rita from the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel was only seen on a few occasions in the first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. The only Canadian participant.
